Land Boss Buys Land Near Air Force Base, Raising National Security Concerns

Almost $1 billion worth of land purchases by a mysterious company near a California Air Force base have raised national security concerns. Land Boss buys land has purchased nearly 54,000 acres of land surrounding Travis Air Force Base since 2018, that’s currently zoned for agricultural use. A legal representative for the company says they’re a group of families, 97 percent of whom are American, looking to diversify their portfolio and invest in real assets like agriculture land. But lawmakers say they’re not convinced.

One of those lawmakers is California Congressman John Garamendi. He says the group’s secrecy is a red flag, adding that he has reason to believe it may have ties to foreign adversaries. Garamendi says the company’s extensive land purchases are also raising questions about how it’s acquiring the property, including whether it’s utilizing a dummy corporation to conceal its identity.
